Don’t try to change me
I like the strange me
Your smile looks angry
I’m not what you had thought

You dreamed of me
But not this version
I’ll grow on you
But it’s not urgent
Eventually you’ll like this person
Please sleep again
See what dreams I send

I wear cologne
I work alone
It might be known
My mind will roam
I’m heading home
I sleep alone
Keep what you own
Hard hearts are stone

Your eyes come open
Your tears have spoken
Your heart’s not broken
You dreamed a different dream

You saw inside me
You saw what might be
You saw what drives me
You dreamed a different me
You dreamed what you didn’t see
You dreamed you were awake
I pinched you twice, my mistake

I wear cologne
I work alone
It might be known
My mind will roam
I’m heading home
I sleep alone
Keep what you own
Hard hearts are stone
This started as "I wear cologne - I work alone" while I was digging out the floor for our garage.. I'd take breaks and write a little more and built it up from there.

It wasn't really about anyone in particular it just was my thoughts on past experiences on how you shouldn't try to change someone if you want it to last.

I wrote this in 2004.
